Dr. Sangeeta Jha is presently working as Associate Director (Academics). She was recipient of scholarships throughout her academic career. She has 27 years of Teaching experience and 02 years of Post-Doctoral research experience. She authored 33 research papers in peer reviewed international & national Journals and 35 research papers presented in conferences. She has edited a book entitled Bio-Culture Diversity & Sustainable Development in Northeast India, Status, Vision and Challenges and author a book on Socio-Economic and Ecological Significance of Kitchen Gardens of Sikkim. She has been awarded a Research project on “Investigation on Development of High-Performance Polymeric Nano-adhesive for Automobile and Aviation Applications” by AICTE and coordinator of DST-FIST Program of Chemistry department from 2015- 2020. She has been awarded a major research project as Co- PI and a minor research project as PI under SMU TMA Pai Research Grant.

Prof. (Dr) Sangeeta Jha is the founder head of the Department of Chemistry at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. Apart from heading the department, she has also shouldered the responsibility of Dean (Students Affairs). She has  been a member of  Governing Council, Academic Senate, University Research Committee & chaired various committees in the Institute and University.

For her contribution to research she has received Crop Research Award, Award of Excellence for establishing Nanotechnology center at SMIT & Certificate of appreciation for research infrastructure development project under DST – FIST. She also visited Delft University of Technology, with a view to establish an International centre of Nano Technology and applied adhesion at SMIT (SMU). She has organized 05 International conferences, many National conferences, workshops, seminars etc. She has successfully guided many Master’s projects and PhD scholars. Two Australian patents has been granted to her credit. She is a fellow of Indian Chemical Society (FICS) and Life member of Indian Science Congress.
