Dr. (Prof.) Pankaj Chettri is Additional Registrar of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) since August 2017. He is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics, SMIT. He is also presently APIO(Assistant Public Information Officer),  Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) Institute Nodal Officer, etc.  He has about 20 years of teaching experience.

He obtained his B. Sc. (Honours) degree in Mathematics from Darjeeling Govt. College, M. Sc in Mathematics and Ph. D in the area of Fuzzy Topology from University of North Bengal, Siliguri.in 2011.

He had held the administrative posts of Assistant Registrar(Academics), Deputy Registrar(Academics), Cultural Teacher In-charge, Hostel Warden, etc.in SMIT. He is also the chairman/member of various committees constituted by the Department, Institute, and University.

He is the recipient R S Varma Memorial Best Paper Presentation Award (2nd Place)  for presenting a paper titled in the 18th International Conference of Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics on Interdisciplinary  Mathematical & Statistical Techniques (IMST 2009-FIM XVIII) held at Jaypee University of  Information Technology, Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh-India, during  August 2-4, 2009.

Prof. Chettri has published several research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and also presented research papers at various conferences. His area of interest includes Topology, Fuzzy Topology, Generalized Topology, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, etc. He is a member of the editorial board and also a reviewer of various peer-reviewed international journals. Some research scholars are pursuing their Ph. D degree under his guidance.

His hobbies include Travelling, Music, Photography etc.
