5^th June 2024: NSS Sikkim Manipal University observed World Environment Day 2024 with zeal and enthusiasm. A brief orientation session about various prospects of Environment, Climate Change and Challenges was organised on the campus to begin with the celebration. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMU; Registrar, SMU; Dean, SMIMS; SFO; Head HR; Faculty members, Programme Coordinator, NSS, SMU; Programme Officers, NSS, SMU and Student volunteers from SMIMS, SMCPT, MHA, SMCON took part in the event. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Programme Officer, NSS, SMU talked about the need of environmental consciousness in the contemporary fast changing world. In his address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor emphasized the need of inculcation of best practices towards environmental preservation. He further highlighted the environmental hazards and the correct measures to curb them. The orientation programme was followed by a Plantation Drive on the campus wherein all the participants planted saplings of various trees and flowers.
