The paramedical course were started in the year 2019 currently department of Allied Health Professions, under Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim. Having established a firm footing in the field of Allied Healthcare education today, the department stemmed with the intent to provide educational innovation, advance knowledge and educate student to contribute positively to Healthcare system.

  • Medical Laboratory Technology is one of the fastest growing professions and it offers tremendous opportunity abroad.
  • The B.Sc. MLT, Technologists can advance to supervisory or management positions in labs and hospitals.
  • They can also work as Laboratory manager, Consultant, supervisor, health care administrator, Hospital Outreach coordinator, Educational consultant and Health and Safety Officer. Additional opportunities are available in molecular diagnostics, molecular biotechnology companies and in vitro fertilization laboratories as well as in research labs.
  • In the clinical areas, Drug testing, Therapeutic drug monitoring and Biogenetics are some of the specialties with openings.
