Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at Sikkim Manipal University is a constituent unit as a centre for research and teaching composed of academics from five different disciplines namely English, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science and Commerce. Apart from its undergraduate B.A and B. Com courses which include uniquely designed content as per NEP 2020 offered by members of faculty, the SMU unit offers highly interdisciplinary areas of expertise and investigation in its MA, M. Com, and Ph. D programmes. The SMU unit collaborates with related Indian as well as international institutions in projects and workshops to promote and produce cutting-edge work in humanities and social sciences. Placing a high premium on research output and outreach, the unit consistently publishes academic articles, project reports and monographs which corroborate the quality of work undertaken by its faculty, fellows, and researchers.

In a dynamic Model United Nations (MUN) simulation of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), six students, including one representing India, engaged in a spirited debate on climate change solutions, with one student chairing the session. The YMUN, held by the Department of Political Science, Sikkim Manipal University, under "Yava Manthan: Viksit Bharat @2047" aimed to mimic the real-world COP dynamics, offering students a glimpse into the complexities of global diplomacy.

A special lecture on Regional Investor Seminar for Awareness (RISA) has been organized on 15.03.2024 at Lecture Hall II, Level V, SMIMS Building of Sikkim Manipal University. Department of Political Science, FHSSLA organised “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” on 6th March 2024 at Seminar Hall, SMIMS building. The focus of this event was to emphasise the significance of voting for the democratic progress in India.
The training session on Plagiarism & Ethical Consideration in Research was successfully conducted on 27.02.2024 at FHSSLA Building and it was a highly enriching and insightful event organized by the Directorate of Research (DoR), Sikkim Manipal University.
The special session on Opportunities as Banking Professionals was successfully conducted on 13.01.2024 at Lecture Hall III, Level V, SMIMS Building and it was a highly enriching and insightful event organized by the placement cell under the Faculty Of Humanities, Social Sciences & Liberal Arts, SMU. The objective of the interactive session was to provide in-depth insights into the emerging trends and scopes in the field of banking professions in India.

It was indeed a great pleasure to be a part of Sikkim Manipal University, Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts. Grateful to be given an opportunity to reflect on our learning, to the achievements and the bond of love and respect shared by the students and teachers. I dive into nostalgia and relish the best days of my life.
The past two years in FHSSLA has given me tons of memories that will last a lifetime for me to look back with a big smile on my face. My heartfelt thanks goes to all my department teachers who have given me the motivation to explore myself and my abilities to do better in whichever way I pursue.
Blessed to be a part of FHSSLA, SMU It has taught me many lessons apart from books, I am so grateful to all my faculty members for being so encouraging, supportive and bringing out the best in me. The unforgettable memory of class, college, and campus in Manipal will always remain forever.
