The Department of English, FHSS&LA, Sikkim Manipal University in collaboration with the Literary and Academic Club successfully organised a special lecture on Research Methodology on 28th September at Sikkim Manipal University. Dr. Bhaskar Chettri, Assistant Professor at ICFAI University, Sikkim, was invited as the distinguished speaker.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Srijana Sharma, Convenor of FHSSLA, who expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to host Dr. Chettri. She highlighted the importance of research in academic growth and how this lecture would contribute to building strong research skills among students.

Following the welcome address, Dr. Madan Chettri, Coordinator of FHSSLA, delivered a brief but insightful speech, outlining the relevance of research methodology in higher education. He emphasised the need for rigorous research practices and their vital role in academic development.

Dr. Bhaskar Chettri’s lecture on Research Methodology was highly engaging and informative. He introduced the fundamental research principles, focusing on the importance of a clear and well-defined research objective. He provided a comprehensive overview of the different steps taken while conducting research, focussing on dissertation writing and the different citation styles. He highlighted on the importance of maintaining academic rigour throughout the research process.

One of the key aspects of his lecture was the emphasis on ethical considerations in research. Dr. Chettri stressed the importance of integrity, originality, and the responsible use of sources.

The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where students and faculty members posed various questions regarding their research projects and challenges. Dr. Chettri patiently addressed each query, offering insightful solutions and motivating the audience to pursue their research goals with dedication and precision.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Prayash Gupta, Course Coordinator from the Department of English. Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of English, moderated the event.
