OVERVIEW

 

  • The Department of Political Science is a constituent unit of Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at Sikkim Manipal University. It offers programs at the undergraduate (BA), postgraduate (MA) and Doctoral (PhD) level.
  • The department aims to provide the students with a strong base in the discipline of Political Science, combined with the acquisition of practical research skills.
  • The Bachelor and Master programs in Political Science emphasise both the qualitative and the quantitative aspects of the study of the discipline.
  • The department offers an interdisciplinary method of study of Political Science, combining the subject with other disciplines, which helps the students construct their ideas and knowledge on the subject.

Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts will be a leader in delivering outstanding experiential learning opportunities that encourage our students to develop to their full potential in both the classroom and the community. Driven by discovery, SMUFHSSLA will be a destination for those eager to advance our world by creating new knowledge. Together, we will foster the development of tomorrow’s leaders who will emerge from their studies ready to excel and contribute to the betterment of our local and global communities.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts shall disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem relevant and to make provisions for integrated courses in commerce, humanities, social sciences and allied disciplines in the educational programmes of the University aligning with the NEW EDUCATIONAL POLICY 2020; to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning processes, inter-disciplinary studies and research; to educate and train manpower for the development of the state in particular and the country in general ; to pay special attention to the improvements of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the State, their intellectual, academic and cultural development.
