SMFHSSLA Celebrates Foundation Day and Winterlude 2024
Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts (SMFHSSLA) celebrated its Foundation Day and Winterlude 2024 on 19th November 2024. The day commenced with a welcome note by Ms Srijana Sharma, Convenor FHSSLA followed by an inspiring speech by the officiating Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Muralidhar V. Pai, and the Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Karma Sonam Sherpa, who highlighted the university’s milestones and motivated students to strive for excellence. Dr. Madan Chettri, Coordinator, FHSSLA, presented the Annual Report highlighting FHSSLA’S achievements in a year. The ex-students were felicitated for their academic and co-curricular excellence.
Winterlude, An Annual Literary and Cultural Event organised by the Department of English, was graced by the esteemed resource person, Ms Neelam Gurung, whose insights and poetry captivated the audience. Ms. Gurung emphasised the importance of self-expression and creativity in education, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
The event also featured remarkable performances by the university’s Drama Club, which presented a thought-provoking play, and by participants in the poetry recitation, storytelling, extempore, essay writing and creative writing competitions. Mr. Prayash Gupta, Course Coordinator, Department of English, delivered the vote of thanks.
