OVERVIEW

 

  • The Department of English offers courses in B.A. English (Hons. /Hons. with research) as per NEP 2020, M.A (English) and PhD program.
  • The department aims to develop an understanding of the discipline of English Language and Literature and promoting analytical, critical, and creative attitude-based education among the learners.
  • It aims to facilitate self-discovery among the students and ensure their enthusiastic and effective participation in responding to the needs and challenges of the contemporary world in relation to English Language and Literature.
  • It aims to enable the students to develop artistic and critical competencies needed for meeting the challenges and needs of the real world effectively.
Vision Objectives
Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts will be a leader in delivering outstanding experiential learning opportunities that encourage our students to develop to their full potential in both the classroom and the community. Driven by discovery, SMUFHSSLA will be a destination for those eager to advance our world by creating new knowledge. Together, we will foster the development of tomorrow’s leaders who will emerge from their studies ready to excel and contribute to the betterment of our local and global communities.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Sikkim Manipal Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts shall disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem relevant and to make provisions for integrated courses in commerce, humanities, social sciences and allied disciplines in the educational programmes of the University aligning with the NEW EDUCATIONAL POLICY 2020; to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning processes, inter-disciplinary studies and research; to educate and train manpower for the development of the state in particular and the country in general ; to pay special attention to the improvements of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the State, their intellectual, academic and cultural development.
