The event aimed to create awareness and foster discussions about the role of technology in energy conservation at the national level.
Key Dignitaries Present:
The seminar began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Poornima R. Vijaya, who served as the Emcee for the event. She welcomed all dignitaries, participants, and members of the organizing committee to the technical seminar on “National Energy Conservation.” The event was officially inaugurated with a diya lighting ceremony, symbolizing enlightenment and sustainability, performed by dignitaries from IE(I) and CDOE. The Khada Ceremony, a traditional gesture of respect and blessing, commenced after the inaugural Diya Lighting Ceremony.
During the seminar, Prof. (Dr.) Sourav Dhar, Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), delivered a thoughtful address that underscored the importance of National Energy Conservation. He emphasized the importance of energy conservation as a crucial step toward achieving sustainable development goals encouraging participants to implement energy-saving practices in their personal and professional lives to contribute to national goals.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajeya Jha, Director in Charge, SMIT, SMU, also addressed the gathering during the seminar. He emphasized the pressing need for energy conservation as a national priority and the critical role that engineers and educators play in this endeavour.
Following the short tea break, Er. Lochan Adhikari, Vice Principal of ATTC and Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Sikkim State Centre, delivered an engaging session on the Role of Technology in National Energy Conservation. He captivated the audience by sharing practical stories and real-world examples of innovative energy-saving practices and technologies. The seminar progressed with a technical session on National Energy Conservation by Dr. Manish Kumar Roy, Assistant Professor (SG), Department of Mechanical Engineering, SMIT, SMU. He delivered an insightful and thought-provoking presentation, delving into critical aspects of energy conservation. He discussed on Innovative techniques and methodologies to minimize energy wastage in industrial and domestic settings and the global impact of energy conservation efforts and their alignment with sustainable development goals (SDGs). Following the technical sessions, participants actively engaged in a panel discussion, showcasing their interest and enthusiasm for the seminar's theme. This interactive session added significant value to the seminar, ensuring the participants left with a clearer understanding of energy conservation's practical and theoretical dimensions.
The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Ishwer Shivakoti, Assistant Director, CDOE. In his closing remarks, Dr. Shivakoti expressed sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, speakers, and participants for their active involvement and valuable contributions throughout the event. He commended the collective effort in addressing the crucial topic of National Energy Conservation and emphasized the need for future collaborations and similar events to further advance this important cause.
Dr. Shivakoti also encouraged participants to continue exploring energy-saving practices and to take forward the knowledge gained from the seminar.
The event officially ended with a lunch provided to all dignitaries, organizing committee members, and participants, offering a final opportunity for networking and informal discussions.
