STPI Gangtok Hosts Successful Outreach Event on "Open Challenge Programme - 5.0"
On May 31st, 2024, STPI Gangtok organized an engaging outreach event focusing on the "Open Challenge Programme - 5.0 (OCP)". This initiative aims to incubate startups, students, and professionals in new and emerging technologies, particularly in IT applications within the healthcare sector. The event took place at LT3, Level-V, College Building, SMIMS, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and was held in a hybrid mode, with key speakers joining both in-person and online.
Speakers and Key Highlights
The event featured two distinguished speakers: Mr. N.S. Siddaiah, Additional Director and OIC STPI Gangtok, and Mr. Rahul Singrani, Co-founder & CEO of ten3T Healthcare and Chief Mentor for IT Applications in Healthcare & Agritech-Gangtok. While Mr. Siddaiah attended the event in person, Mr. Singrani contributed his insights online.

The Dean of SMIMS warmly welcomed the resource persons and attendees, emphasizing the crucial role of IT applications in advancing healthcare.
Mr. N.S. Siddaiah provided a comprehensive overview of the support that faculty and students can receive from STPI for product development. He detailed the application process for STPI support and elaborated on the Open Challenge Programme, particularly in the domains of IT applications in healthcare and Agritech.
Following this, Mr. Rahul Singrani shared his valuable experiences and discussed various IT-based healthcare devices developed through innovative technology applications. His insights provided practical examples of how IT can revolutionize healthcare.
Closing and Future Plans
The program concluded with a tea and biscuits session, fostering networking among the participants. In total, the event saw an impressive turnout of 70 participants, including faculty, postgraduate students, and PhD scholars from the Tadong Campus.
Mr. N.S. Siddaiah announced that STPI plans to organize similar programs at SMIT and more focused events targeting the faculty and students of the Tadong campus and SMIT, encouraging those with innovative ideas in product development to participate.
