Student’s council of Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing along with faculty conducted a training program for care givers of elderly at Tumlabong HWC- PHSc under a flagship program of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, the program started with a welcome note by Mrs. Pranita Sharma, Assistant Professor, UBA coordinator SMCON. The coordinator briefed the gathering regarding the objectives, initiations and stake holder involvement to conduct the health and awareness programs in the adopted villages. Prof. Champa Sharma, Principal, SMCON gave an in depth insight into the ageing process, challenges faced by elderly and their care givers and also sensitized the gathering regarding home care of elderly . The program was graced by the Ward Panchayat of Tumlabong Ward, PHSC staffs, Vice Principal SMCON, faculty representatives of UBA Cell, SMCON, community people and approximately 20 caregivers of the elderly. As a token of care, a geriatric care kit prepared by the UBA Cell of SMCON was distributed to the participants of the program. The program was given a positive feedback by the ward Panchayat and the participants of the program. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Ayushi Timsina representative of student’s council.
