The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) successfully hosted its Annual Day Program on 17th September 2024, which also commemorated the 90th birthday of Padma Bhushan Dr. Ramdas Pai. The event featured various activities celebrating the institution's achievements and honoring the remarkable contributions of Dr. Pai.

 

Dr. Ramdas Pai is a distinguished leader in education and healthcare, widely respected for his visionary leadership in founding the Manipal Group, which includes renowned institutions such as Sikkim Manipal University and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Throughout his career, Dr. Pai has played a pivotal role in advancing education and healthcare, both in India and globally. His efforts were recognized with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award, acknowledging his significant contributions to building accessible and high-quality education systems. Under his leadership, the Manipal Group has grown into a global leader in higher education.

  • Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMU, Air Vice Marshall, Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, VSM along with Director, CDOE, SMU, Prof (Dr.) Sourav Dhar, Deputy Director CDOE (Dr.) Kushal Pokhrel along with Assistant Director, CDOE, (Dr.) Ishwar Shivakoti initiated lighting of the Lamp Ceremony

  • Director, CDOE, SMU, Prof (Dr.) Sourav Dhar, delivered a compelling address that underscored the significance of the Foundation Day and highlighted the remarkable achievements of the CDOE. His speech served as a poignant reflection on the CDOE journey, and its enduring commitment to excellence.
  • The presentation on CDOE trajectory was brought up by the Faculty of Information Technology Assistant Professor Mr Arun Chaudhary accompanied with Assistant Professor Mr Manoj Rai
  • Screening of “Padma Bhushan Dr. Ram Das Pai” Life Journey by Assistant Professor Ms. Aliviya Ghosh
  • Teaching staff from varied departments from CDOE were felicitated by Director, CDOE, SMU, Prof (Dr.) Sourav Dhar
  • The program was then paused for a brief tea break followed by a cultural program filled with fanfare and joy with back-to-back enthralling dance, song and musical performances forged with the talented faculties and staffs of CDOE, SMU.
  • Founder’s Day celebration ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the coordinator Mr. Matrika Prasad Sharma, followed by the lunch and group photo.
