Sikkim and Certain parts of North Bengal have witnessed a flash flood on 4th October 2023 due to the cloud-burst induced surge of water levels on the river Teesta which resulted in the loss of human lives, infrastructural damages and derailment of livelihood occupations. In such a crunch time, NSS, SMU (FHSS&LA), Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts collected flood relief materials (clothes, essential commodities and edible items) and dispatched to affected areas of North Sikkim for further distribution among the needy people.
NSS SMU has done excellent job at the present. Contribution of Unit I and II of NSS towards the Sikkimese society at this crunch moment is really appreciable. NSS wings of SMIMS, SMCON, SMCPT, MHA and FHSS&LA have commendably played their roles in providing reliefs to the Flash-Flood affected people.
