The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a constituting department of Sikkim Manipal University. The department is multidisciplinary in nature which is meant to develop social science and literary understanding and awareness among the students of this region as well as of other parts of India.
The department has a confluent range of stimulating high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes underpinned with the innovative and professionally-oriented provisions in Business and Education. The department offers B.A (English, Sociology and Political Science), B.Com (Accounting and Finance), M.A (English, Political Science and Sociology), M.Com (Accounting and Finance) programmes, NCCMP Certificate course and NIRP Certificate course.
Our students are encouraged to think critically and incisively about society, ideas, people, commerce, and the human condition. The syllabus and method of teaching differ from those at many other institutions in this region. These programs provide excellent preparation for career and professional studies. We are simultaneously one department that does house other major departments so that each student will likely have the most extensive communication with other subjects.

International Women’s Day 2023
The NSS unit of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sikkim Manipal University observed the World AIDS day on 1st December 2022. Red Ribbon badges were distributed among the faculties, staff, and students to create awareness about AIDS.
