- CLINICIAN: For the past 2 years and 3 months, I have been performing all my duties as Senior Resident and for the past 3 months as Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery with a high degree of functionality and aesthetics. In the clinical field, I have been managing OPDs, performing various minor surgeries on an OPD basis, taking daily morning and evening surgery ward and SICU rounds, including patient's pre- and post-surgical management, discharge, and follow-up, and managing all emergency duties. I am also performing all major surgeries independently and under the guidance of my respected seniors, including elective and emergency surgeries such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic appendicectomy, all open abdominal surgeries, bowel resection & anastomosis, hernioplasty, herniorrhaphy, orchidopexy and orchidectomy, fasciotomy, amputation, suprapubic cystolithotomy, skin grafting, and various other surgical and emergency procedures.
- ACADEMICIAN: I have been involved in the teaching curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have been taking regular theoretical and practical classes, bedside clinical, PBL classes for undergraduates, and bedside teaching of postgraduate students while guiding junior residents in performing their duties. I have also been a delegate/faculty/speaker at various online seminars/CME. Through feedback from students, I can say that my clear, concise, and to-the-point presentations are well received. I have also delivered presentations on public forums, which boosted my confidence.
- Time Management and Teamwork: My superior time management and ability to form a healthy doctor-patient bond and teamwork have helped me immensely, as I was the only senior resident for one year in the Department of General Surgery.
- COVID Ward Service: For the past two years, apart from managing my emergency duties, I have also rendered my services in the designated COVID ward.
- CONSTRAINTS: Due to the unexpected pandemic situation in our country, my efforts to publish my research work have taken a hit. Additionally, I was very busy in performing all my duties as the only senior resident in the General Surgery Department for one year. However, I am confident that I will improve on this. I have made some progress on various skills and am committed to the growth of both my inner self and my SMIMS Institute.
