The Institution of Engineers (India) - Sikkim State Chapter, in
collaboration with the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Sikkim
Manipal University (SMU), organized a one-day seminar on "Opportunities
for Online Higher Education for Working Professionals." The event was held
with the aim of shedding light on the increasing importance and opportunities
in online education for working professionals in today's fast-paced and
evolving world.

The seminar included three insightful keynote presentations from
distinguished speakers:

Prof. (Dr.) Sourav Dhar, Director, CDOE, SMU,
Majhitar
Dr. Dhar started the seminar by highlighting the significance of online
education, focusing on the potential it holds for working professionals who are
looking to upskill and advance their careers while balancing their jobs. His
presentation explored various modes of delivery, advancements in educational
technology, and the diverse opportunities available for learners through online

2. Mr.
Dilip Kumar Darjee, Assistant Registrar, IGNOU Regional Centre, Gangtok,
Sikkim
Mr. Darjee provided valuable insights into the role of IGNOU in promoting
distance learning, particularly for working professionals. He shared the unique
challenges and opportunities of working professionals pursuing education
through distance learning programs. His talk emphasized how distance education

Examination, CDOE, SMU.

and the technological tools and platforms used by CDOE, SMU. He also discussed
the measures taken to ensure the integrity and quality of online examinations
and certification.
