The department of pathology is a bridge between the clinical & basic sciences it helps the clinician in diagnosis and prognosis of a disease by using laboratory methods. It also has a scope of research in disease process by applying various laboratory techniques & instruments.
It has various light & fluorescence microscopy capability, frozen section, tissue culture facility, cytology, blood banking with components preparation, cell counter in haematology & UV spectroscope & Fourier transform infrared spectroscope.
Pathology is taught in the second year of MBBS, BSc Nursing, MSc (biotech) and BPT students in the second year of the curriculum. This subject is a bridge between the basic medical sciences and the clinical branches. The Pathology Department also caters to the laboratory investigations for the patients of the hospital.
This department has a modulate work load and provides simultaneous exposure to surgical pathology, haematology & transfusion medicine. It has 3 approved research grants.
The Department has collaborations with the Department of Textile Engineering, Indina Institute of Technology Delhi for development of biodegradable scaffolds.
It has world class facilities for training undergraduate and postgraduate students.
