OVERVIEW

The department of pathology is a bridge between  the clinical & basic sciences it helps the clinician in diagnosis and prognosis of a disease by using laboratory methods. It also has a scope of research in disease process by applying various laboratory techniques & instruments.
It has various light & fluorescence microscopy capability, frozen section, tissue culture facility, cytology, blood banking with components preparation, cell counter in haematology & UV spectroscope & Fourier transform infrared spectroscope.

Pathology is taught in the second year of MBBS, BSc Nursing, MSc (biotech) and BPT students in the second year of the curriculum. This subject is a bridge between the basic medical sciences and the clinical branches. The Pathology Department also caters to the laboratory investigations for the patients of the hospital.

This department has a modulate work load and provides simultaneous exposure to surgical pathology, haematology & transfusion medicine. It has 3 approved research grants.
