General Surgery department of SMIMS is an excellent department with most competent faculties. Many major operations are done in daily by our expert surgeons.  We deal mostly Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal surgery along with other abdominal surgeries, surgery of breast including cancer of the breast, thyroid surgery, surgery of hernias, surgery of ano-rectal diseases, trauma and emergency cases and other allied general surgical procedures.

General Surgery department of SMIMS is well equipped to provide facilities of Laparoscopic surgeries. Laparoscopic surgeries include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, gynecological procedures as well as other advanced laparoscopic procedures. In fact it is an excellent Laparoscopic centre in Sikkim with competent and well qualified laparoscopic surgeons.

It also deals surgery of kidney and urological system, chest trauma and other trauma cases, plastic and reconstructive surgery etc.
