In an era where our population is aging at an unprecedented rate, the need for specialized care for our elderly has never been more pressing. Geriatric care clinics serve as a beacon of hope and support for our seniors, offering tailored services to meet their unique and evolving healthcare needs.

The idea of having a composite geriatric clinic has been in the pipeline since many days and what better day for its launch than the 126th Birth Anniversary of our founder, a Philanthropist Padmashree Awardee Dr. TMA Pai whose vision was to provide healthcare equity.

Inspired by the long and astounding history of the founders of Manipal and its essence, truly we are all inspired by life. Life paved by our history, our elders.

Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy launched a Composite Geriatric Care Clinic a steppingstone to improve quality of life and health equity. This launch aims to work hand in hand with the Departments of Physiotherapy, Orthopedics, Medicine, and Dietetics & Nutrition, CRH to provide a multidisciplinary geriatric care in basic package and advance package which includes services from other clinical departments.

The clinic will function every Thursday and Friday during OPD hours (9 am – 1pm and 2 pm – 5 pm).

The program started with Dr. Frieda Bokali briefing the gathering about the importance of geriatric care and the services which Composite Geriatric Care Clinic aims to provide.

Following which the chief guest “Respected Chief Guest Air Vice Marshal Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, VSM, Vice Chancellor SMU” emphasized on need based program curation and aimed to increase the services provided as the population seeking the services increase along with plans to develop a resident Geriatric Support Society of Sikkim.

The dignitaries launched the service pamphlet and inauguration of Clinic.
