Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy was established in the year 2001. The college celebrated its first alumni meet “Déjà Vu” on the 23rd of April 2022 after completion of 20 glorious years of imparting physiotherapy education.
The college felicitated faculties & non-teaching staff associated with the college since inception during the program as a token of appreciation and gratitude, with khadas and mementos by Lt. Gen (Dr.) Rajan S. Grewal, Vice Chancellor, SMU and Prof. Nikita Joshi Sonowal, Principal, SMCPT.
The Vice Chancellor addressed the alumni, and in his speech he emphasised on research and publications and collaborations with the alumni. He showed gratitude towards all alumni for being pioneers in their respective fields, both in national and international levels.
Dr. Binita Basnett, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, STNM Hospital, Sochakgang, was invited as a Special Guest. During her speech she emphasized on the exaltation of the profession.
President of SMCPT Alumni Association Dr. Remon Chettri, PT praised multiple roles of the Alumni in the society and college, and requested support towards the alma-mater.
More than 60 alumni attended the reunion. Students and staffs of SMCPT participated in the organised cultural event followed by interactive sessions and speech by various alumni, shared their experiences and reminisced about life as a student in SMCPT.
The program concluded with vote of thanks and photo session followed by Lunch.
