SIKKIM MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES IN COLLABORATION WITH KASTURBA MEDICAL COLLEGE & PFIZER LTD. INDIA CONDUCTED WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences organized a two days workshop entitled “Workshop on Methodological Approach to Evidence Generation” at SMIMS on 2nd & 3rd June 2023 in collaboration with Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, MAHE, Manipal and Pfizer Medical, Pfizer Ltd. India.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of Dr K Ramnarayan, Pro Chancellor SMU, Lt General Dr Rajan S Grewal, Vice Chancellor SMU, Dr Muralidhar V Pai, Dean SMIMS, Dr Karma Sonam Sherpa, Registrar SMU, and Dr Bidita Khandelwal, Director DOR SMU.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr Dilip Chandra Agarwal, Vice Chancellor Designate, SMU. The Guests of Honour of the programme were Dr B Unnikrishnan, Dean, KMC, Mangalore, and Dr Komal Gaur, Medical Lead, Real -World Evidence, Pfizer Limited India. The Organizing Chairman of the programme was Dr Luna Adhikari, Associate Dean, Research & Development, SMIMS. The Organizing Secretary of the programme was Dr Dhruva Kumar Sharma, Member, Research Unit, SMIMS. The Master of Ceremony for the programme was Dr Anusha Subba, Department of Microbiology, SMIMS.

The workshop was attended by more than 245 participants belonging to post-graduate students, PhD scholars, other researchers and faculty members. These participants were from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing, Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy, Department of Medical Biotechnology, Department of Master of Hospital Administration, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, STNM hospital and Sikkim Professional University.
The workshop was aimed to help clinicians and researchers enhance their knowledge on research methodology and improve understanding of real world evidence which is gaining significance in healthcare and clinical decision making. It focused on various topics such as essentials of research methodology, real world evidence, basics of biostatistics, protocol writing, ethics in research.
