Final Year B.Sc. Nursing students from Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON) organized a School Health Awareness Programme on topic “Child Abuse, Suicide, Child trafficking and Peer Pressure” and Health Camp which was conducted at Govt Sec School, Majhitar. Around 200 students and 15 faculty members from Govt Sec School, Majhitar attended the programme. The programme started with a welcome speech with an aim of spreading awareness regarding child abuse, suicide, child trafficking and peer pressure. The program was continued with a welcome address by M.C followed by an educative role play on Human Trafficking by the students of SMCON. Students provided health education on Peer pressure, School dropout, Substance abuse and Social isolation discussing about its types, causes, effects, and management. Prof. Champa Sharma, Principal, Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing, delivered a speech on “Suicide” and Mrs. Pranita Sharma, Assistant Professor stressed on “Child Abuse” with help of multiple attractive audio-visual aids. A health camp was also organised by the students of 4TH Year B. Sc Nursing. A quiz session was conducted to evaluate the knowledge of the students on the above-mentioned topics and a small token of appreciation were given to the Students of Govt Sec School, Majhitar who participated enthusiastically. The programme was marked exceptional by the teachers of Govt Sec School Majhitar. The programme ended with positive feedback by the students of Govt Sec School, Majhitar and with a vote of thanks.
