BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Student Research Forum (SRF) at SMIT organized a workshop on "Importance of IPR for Commercialising Your Research" on April 23, 2024, in the Seminar Hall, where Dr. Udit Kumar Chakraborty, HOD, CSE, provided key insights on how IPR plays a vital role in the field of research.
He started by explaining a brief introduction about Intellectual Property Rights, emphasizing its role in fostering innovation, creativity, and economic growth. Through compelling examples and case studies, he enlightened us about the various forms of IPR, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
After this, he discussed the various laws governing the IPR domain and why it is relevant and important for everyone in the field of research. Throughout the workshop, there was a warmth and welcoming environment between the speaker and the attendees.
He concluded by sharing his own personal experience regarding IPR and its relevance in everyday life, and its importance in the computer science domain.
