Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology has a well-integrated student support system in place to help & assist student during his/her course in SMIT.

  • Teacher Guardian – First point of contact for any issues faced by the student.
  • Student Council – Any problems faced by the student community.
  • Chief Warden & Wardens – Issues pertaining to hostel accommodation and related matters.
  • Chief Warden & MIS – Issues related with Mess/Canteen.
  • Manager Administration – Issues related with Security, Transport, and Guest house accommodation.
  • Associate Director (Academics) & HOD’s – Issues related with academics including various types of examinations.
  • Librarian – Any issues related with the library.
  • T&P Cell – Provides detailed information about placement opportunities and conducts pre-placement training.
  • SMIT Clinic – Provides medical help and checkup round the clock.
  • DVIOS – Wi-Fi related matters.
  • Associate Director (SA) – Overall in-charge of all student affairs.
  • Associate Director (Academics) and Committee – Award of financial help from student benevolent fund to student facing financial crisis.
  • Grievance Committee – Students can repeal against the punishment given for acts of Indiscipline.
  • Director, SMIT – Overall-In-Charge and students can approach him with their problems if it is not being solved.
STUDENT AFFAIRS

The Associate Director (Student Affairs) looks after the welfare of the students and coordinates all type of student activities in the campus through various clubs and Student Council. Associate Director (Student Affairs) is available in the office during working hours and can be reached anytime on phone beyond working hours.

Monthly meeting of Student Coucnil is held to address the various issues and problems faced by the student community.

It’s a noble practice where every teacher acts as a guardian for few number of students, through their entire stay at SMIT. The teacher will help you in every aspect, be it academic or non-academic. TG will be a link between parent and the Institute. He/She is going to play a vital role during your stay at SMIT. TG is a helping hand you can always rely on. Greater the interaction you have with your TG, more comfortable and enjoyable you will find SMIT to be. It is a WIN-WIN interaction for you. You can talk freely with your TG, he will act like your parent and try to guide you. As is the human nature, the more you interact, the closer you will be. Please do develop excellent rapport with your TG and enjoy the fabulous lifetime relationship. SMIT takes pride in its TG scheme and the students play a critical role in the efficiency of this scheme. SMIT sincerely believes that the student’s will ensure a grand success of this Samaritan Scheme.

The committee is constituted by the Director. It comprises of five members with Associate Director (Academics) acting as the chairman.

It serves as a platform wherein the students who have been awarded punishment due to various acts of indiscipline can appeal for review of their case for reconsideration & reduction of punishment.

Anti-Ragging Committee is constituted every year with Director as the Chairman. The members comprise of Joint Director, Associate Director(A), Associate Director (SA), Associate Director (R&D), All HODs, Manger (Admin.), Chef Warden, Warden (Boy’s and Girl’s, Sub- Divisional Police Office (Rangpo), VP & GS (Student Council), Parents Representative (1st year students) and Students Representative (1st year students).

The committee decides about the duties and period of Anti-Ragging Squad to be formed. The committee deliberates on various method of making the Anti-Ragging vigilance effective and preventive in nature.

 

Anti-Ragging Squad

The squad comprise of 9-11 faculty members. The senior most faculty member of the squad acts as a coordinator and is required to submit a report by 9.00 AM on the next day to Director’s office. In total 18 squad are formed to monitor the students’ activities both in working days and holidays.

The squad is required to immediately intimate Associate Director(SA)/Chief Warden/Manager (Admin.) on observation of any suspicious activity.
