The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology organized a two-day celebration for International Day of Yoga 2024. The event was held indoors at the Marena basketball court, where a professional yoga instructor led the participants through various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation.

The program was planned for two days:

  • Day 1: External yoga experts led the sessions, starting from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM.
  • Day 2: Internal guides conducted the session from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM.

These morning sessions were carefully scheduled to allow participants to engage in yoga before their daily activities, ensuring maximum participation from the faculty, staff, and students of the institute. The event saw enthusiastic participation, with attendees from different departments and diverse levels of yoga experience, fostering a sense of unity and well-being.

The sessions included various activities such as:

  • Yoga Asanas (postures)
  • Pranayama (breathing exercises)
  • Meditation and relaxation
  • Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)

These activities offered numerous benefits, including improved physical health, mental well-being, and community bonding. The Director of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology also led a session, focusing on Surya Namaskar and pranayama.

The International Day of Yoga 2024 celebration was a resounding success, contributing to the holistic development of the participants and strengthening the sense of community within the institute.
