Introduction

The goal of this workshop was to introduce students to the essential principles of UI/UX design. The workshop was designed to be accessible to students from all departments, starting with the basics of Figma. Participants had the opportunity to design Spotify's homepage, gaining hands-on experience with Figma on a real-world project. This hands-on approach not only helped students learn how Figma works but also expanded their horizons and helped them add a project to their portfolio.

Workshop Summary

Day-1

The first day of the UI/UX workshop began with an introduction to the principles of UI/UX design, covering key terms like wireframes, user flows, and prototypes. This foundation helped students understand the fundamental principles of designing user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces. Following that, participants were introduced to Figma, where they explored the UI and fundamental functions such as animation and component development. Midway through the workshop, students began working on a hands-on project to clone Spotify's site, directed entirely by mentors, allowing them to use their newly acquired knowledge in a practical setting.

Day-2

On the second day of the UI/UX workshop, the session began 30 minutes earlier than scheduled to address any doubts or questions the students had from the previous day. This extra time was beneficial since it allowed participants to achieve clarity and proceed confidently with their assignment. At 6:30 p.m., the students resumed work on their designs, this time focused on adding animations to the interfaces generated during the previous session. By the conclusion of the day, nearly all of the fundamentals of UI/UX had been covered. The students responded enthusiastically, demonstrating a strong interest and active engagement throughout the session.
