Prof. (Dr) Chandrashekhar Bhuiyan is a researcher in the field of Applied Geosciences. He carried out a part of his doctoral research in Germany through DAAD “Sandwich-model PhD” Fellowship. He has post-PhD research experience at several national and international institutes including School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University and School of Environmental Studies, University of Delhi. He visited University of Cologne, Germany as Visiting Scientist in the year 2009 through DAAD ‘Reinitiation Fellowship’.
Prof. Bhuiyan has carried out extensive research in the field of hydrogeology, extreme hydrology (drought), water resources, water scarcity, and natural hazards. He has authored 35 research articles in reputed international journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He has worked as scientist/ researcher in several national and international projects. Dr. Bhuiyan is affiliated to Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) since 2009 and at present serve the institute as the Associate Director – Research. He is also the Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at SMIT.
