World Cancer Day, 2022 Organised by Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing

• Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing (SMCON), Sikkim Manipal University organised  a mass health awareness programme on “World Cancer Day - Close the care gap” on 4^th Feb 2023 at Central Referral hospital. The purpose was to bring awareness among the public regarding cancer and its prevention by closing the care gap.
• The programme by graced by Dr Yogesh Verma, Medical Superintendent, Central Referral Hospital, Col. Naveneet Singh Chhabra, Additional Medical Superintendent and Head of Administration, Dr. Parvati Nandy HOD, Department of Medicine, Central Referral Hospital, Mrs. Pema Lhamu Bhutia, Nursing superintendent and Prof. Binita Khati, HOD, Department of OBG Nursing, SMCON.  The 3^rd year BSc. Nursing students Highlighted the importance of Cancer awareness and prevention among the general population. The programme focused on identification of Warning signs of the cancer and diagnosis.
• Dr. Yogesh Verma, Medical Superintendent, CRH emphasised on the various methods of diagnosis and prevention of the disease, he also spoke about the common cancers in Sikkim and the measures taken to prevent it. A vote of thanks was proposed in the end and the programme was successfully concluded.
