Fit@50+ Women's Trans Himalayan Expedition 2022, a 14-member expedition led by Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Ms. Bachendri Pal, the noted legendary mountaineer and the first Indian woman to scale Mt. Everest, visited Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology on April 11th, 2022, and interacted with students and staff. The audience absolutely adored the two-hour interactive event since it was motivational and inspirational. The team was welcomed by Director, SMIT Prof. Dr G.L Sharma offering traditional Khadas and bouquets. The crew also included three female Everest summitters. This trip commemorates India's 75th year of Independence and is devoted to the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.' The 5-month trek is traversing the Himalaya from east to west, from Arunachal to Ladakh, covering 4,977 kilometres and crossing 37 mountain passes to reach their destination - Tiger Hill (Kargil) (16,608 feet)
