OVERVIEW

 

Department of Civil Engineering at SMIT was established in 2009 and currently the Department offers Btech in Civil Engineering, Mtech in structural Engineering, and PhD programme. The Department has well established state-of-the-art, Material Testing, CAD and Geoiformatics, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying, Geology, Model museum, Environment Engineering, and Fluid Mechanics Laboratories. Students of the Department are being exposed to the latest advancements in design & construction technologies with sufficient field exposures.

FACILITIES

 

The campus has first-rate facilities like laboratories, workshops and practice school for hands-on learning. There are also cafeterias, and transport facility for students' ease.

 

CAD & Geoinformatics Lab

 

 It is equipped with highly configured Computer system installed with latest Version of AutoCad, Staad Pro, and Programming Software such as C to enable the students to draft & design building drawings.

 

 

 

SURVEYING LAB

This lab is equipped with latest device such as Total Stations, Electronic Theodolites, Auto Levels along with traditional surveying instruments such as plane tables with accessories, chains, tapes compass etc. 

 

 

 

GEOLOGY LAB

The lab is has a large collection of   Rocks & minerals samples and has instruments such as  Planimetres and microscope for identification and study of  various samples.

 

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL LAB

The lab is equipped with pH meter, Conductivity meter, magnetic stirrers with hot plates, BOD incubator and other equipments to measure the quality parameters of water and sewage.

 

 

 

FLUID MECHANICS LAB

It is equipped with various types of Turbines such as Pelton wheel Turbine, Francis turbine, Kalpan turbine, Orifices, mouth pieces, venture flume, standing wave flume, Impact on jet, friction losses in pipes etc.

 

 

 

SOIL MECHANICS LAB

 The lab is equipped with all experimental setups such as triaxial testing machine, consolidation, permeability, & index properties

 

.

 

MATERIAL TESTING LAB

The lab is equipped with digital Compression  and flexure testing Machine,, Los Angles abration, Vee-Bee consistometer, aggregate impact value, rebound hammer, set up for testing fresh conrete, cement, sand aggregate etc.

Project & Analysis Lab

It is equipped with highly configured computer system installed with latest version of  ABAQUS, ARC - GIS, SAP and ETABS software. The lab is dedicated to perform the project work of PG students.

 

Model Museum & Project Lab

The lab is equipped with various types of structural models and prototypes of civil engineering structures. The objective of the lab is to demonstrate about the various types of structures, support conditions, loading and functions of civil engineering structures.
