Sikkim Manipal College of Physiotherapy was represented by 9 postgraduate students and 1 faculty at "First Regional Conference on Health in Northeast India" with the Theme: Advancing Health Equity: Bridging the Gaps scheduled April 25 to 26, 2024 at Martin Luther Christian University organized by the National Lutheran Health and Medical Board (NLHMB) in collaboration with the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, MLCU, and the Indian Institute of Public Health, Shillong.
This 2-day program had several eminent speakers from the field of Public health, renowned health professionals from Oncology, Gynecology and Community Medicine.
SMCPT students and faculty presented 8 posters and 2 papers in varied topics out of which:
- Ms. Shivani Agarwal, MPT final year student won the best poster presentation on the topic "Study of Musculoskeletal Evaluation of Cervical Spine Among Migraine Patient in Tertiary Care Hospital, Sikkim: A Cross-Sectional study under the guidance of : Prof. Nikita Joshi Sonowal, Co-guide: Dr Parvati Nandy, Dr Frieda Bokali
- Ms. Prasanna Chettri, MPT final year student won the best paper presentation for the topic "A Randomized Controlled Trial on the Effectiveness of Group Recreational Activity in Chronic Pain and Functional Ability in Individuals with Adhesive Capsulitis" under guidance of Dr. Ajoy Daniel Rai and Co-guide: Dr. Quemeen Gurung.
