Diarrheal diseases are the important cause of infant mortality in the country. The number of deaths are more in rural areas than urban as it is a multifaceted problem depending on multiple socio-economic factors such as housing, environment, water supply, mothers' education etc. The disease is caused by multiple organisms such as bacteria, parasite, and virus. Death is caused due to rapid loss of fluids from the body resulting in a condition known as de-hydration. Besides death, it also causes serious problems like malnutrition, stunted growth and thereby act as heavy burden on health facilities and resources of the country.
