Topic: School Health Programme on Substance Abuse, TB Mukt Bharat and Menstrual Hygiene

Context:

M.Sc. Nursing students from Community Health Nursing Specialty in collaboration with Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Sub Centre Rumtek organized a School Health Programme on Substance Abuse, TB Mukt Bharat and Menstrual Hygiene for the students from class IV- class VIII in the presence of Mrs. Nirupa Rai, Head Mistress; teaching and non-teaching faculties of Govt. Junior High School, Adampool; staffs from AB-HWSC Rumtek, Ms. Sonam Choden Bhutia (MLHP), Mrs. Meena Gurung (ANM) , Mrs. Januka Sharma (FWA); Supervisors from Community Health Nursing Department, SMCON, Prof M. Thoibi Devi, Mrs. Hemkala Dhakal (Asst. Professor) and Mrs. Pranita Sharma, (Asst. Professor).

Objectives:

The Programme aimed at creating awareness on Drug Abuse, Tuberculosis and Menstrual Hygiene among school students.

The Programme:

The programme started at 9:30 am with welcoming the dignitaries, health education on Substance Abuse and Menstrual Hygiene by M.Sc. Nursing students of SMCON followed by health education on TB Mukt Bharat by MLHP AB-HWSC Rumtek. On completion of the health education, a quiz session was conducted and prizes were distributed to the students. At the end, anthropometric measurement (Height, weight and BMI) was checked followed by Tele-consultation for sick students.
