The District Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 for the Gangtok Nodal District (Gangtok, Mangan & Pakyong) was held on 23rd March at Sikkim Manipal University. Shortlisted youths between 18 and 25 years of age from the three districts of Sikkim were invited to participate in the event. 55 participants out of 122 shortlisted took part in the event and deliberated their views on "One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat". Based on their performance in the session, a total of 10 participants were selected for the State Level Parliament which will be held later this month. The participants were judged by a panel of Jury members from diverse sections of society including academicians, bureaucrats and youth leaders. Earlier, the event was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest Air Vice Marshall Dr Dilip Chandra Agarwal, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University; Dr Muralidhar V Pai, Dean, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences; District Youth Officer, NYKS, Gangtok; Deputy Registrar, SMU; Faculty Members, invited guests, students and the participants. The welcome address and concept note was delivered by Dr Madan Chhetri, Nodal Officer, VBYP 2025, Gangtok Nodal District. In his address, Honourable Vice Chancellor highlighted the role of leadership, character building and sustainable development in paving the way for Viksit Bharat. Dr Suditya Sapcotta delivered the vote of thanks in the inaugural session which was moderated by Ms. Deepa Sharma. The competition round was moderated by Mr. Prapanch Sharma whereas the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Uttam Kumar Upadhyaya. Sikkim Manipal University expresses gratefulness towards Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, NSS Cell, Sikkim and NYKS, Gangtok for all the support and guidance during the conduct of the programme.
