Dr. Pinakee Sunder Kar is a Consultant in Hepatology, Gastroenterology, and Advanced Endoscopy with extensive experience in managing complex liver and digestive diseases. He is currently associated with Central Referral Hospital (CRH), Sikkim Manipal University.

He holds a DM in Hepatology and DNB in Medicine and is an ILBS-trained hepatologist. He secured All India Rank 5 in NEET-SS and trained under Prof. S.K. Sarin, one of the most respected names in hepatology globally.

His expertise includes advanced hepatology, liver ICU care, therapeutic endoscopy, pancreato-biliary procedures, portal hypertension, liver failure, ACLF, NAFLD, alcoholic hepatitis, and post-liver transplant care. He is skilled in ERCP, HVPG procedures, capsule endoscopy, and plasma exchange therapy.

Dr. Kar has played a major role in developing gastroenterology and hepatology services in the North Bengal and North East region. He helped establish high-volume ERCP centres, introduced HVPG procedures in West Bengal, and initiated advanced capsule endoscopy and plasma exchange therapy in the region.

He completed his DM training at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, gaining strong exposure to liver ICU care, transplant hepatology, and advanced procedures, including pre- and post-liver transplant management.

Active in clinical research, Dr. Kar has contributed to major studies, presented at international forums, and received honours including the Associate Fellowship of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS).
