SMCPT had organised an International Webinar on “Patient Education -A Clinical Tool for Improvement “on 13th of May from 10:00-11:30 AM. The guest speaker for the program was Dr Abhishek Kumar, who is currently holding a post of Clinical Director in Gainesville, Florida. He has extensive experience in the clinical and managerial field.

He graduated from Manipal University in 2004, post-graduation in sports medicine from Sheffield Hallam University (United Kingdom) and Doctorate from Arizona School of Health Sciences, USA. He has a vast experience as a physiotherapist in three continents namely - Asia, Europe, and North America which has helped him immensely in refining physical therapy skills. He has specialized in Male sexual and urinary incontinence, along with specialization in dry needling and complex sports injury rehabilitation.

There were 92 attendees in today’s webinar. He imparted his vast clinical knowledge and experience while dealing with patient care ranging from paediatric to geriatric patients. He gave emphasis to incorporating patient education early, often, and effectively during treatment sessions. To show empathy, having effective communication and patience to listen to the patient’s problem not only help us to provide holistic management and but should be considered a regular part of health care delivery. The webinar concluded with a question-and-answer session.

Dr. Abhishek has shown keen interest to have International collaborative research work with SMCPT in future.
