Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University, Prof. K. Ram Narayan visited the campus of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Majhitar on 27th May 2022. During the visit, he interacted with the Faculty Members of the Institute and also conducted a short Faculty Development Program.
A noted academician, academic thinker and administrator per excellence, Prof. Ram Narayan still maintains that his first identity is that he is a teacher. His ability to interact with audiences cutting age barriers is well known. The faculty of SMIT, had earlier been fortunate to experience his prowess during his earlier visits to this campus. Today, once again, in his own inimitable style, Prof. Ram Narayan presented his thoughts and explained to all, the importance of being a teacher. His lecture on Formative Assessment, attended by a select group of 55 members of faculty was an eye opener and revealed the small yet highly impactful issues in teaching learning.
In his address to all faculty members, meeting the teaching fraternity at SMIT for the first time as Pro-Chancellor of SMU, he stressed upon the role of the teacher as a contributor to society and as a researcher.
In his address, the Director, SMIT, Prof. G. L. Sharma, thanked the Pro-Chancellor for taking time out of his busy schedule and delivering the talk on teaching learning.
The event was also attended by prof. K. S. Sherpa, Registrar, and other dignitaries from Sikkim Manipal University.
The Institute thanks him for his presence and knowledge sharing and looks forward to many more such visits.
