Nationwide training of nurses for capacity building for management of children in COVID-19 pandemic and preparedness of nursing professionals against third wave”

Overview: Department of Child Health Nursing, SMCON organised  online training of Nurses in Sikkim on “Nationwide training of Nurses for capacity building for management of children in Covid-19 Pandemic & Preparedness of Nursing Professionals against 3rd Wave” The objective of the webinar was to update the nurses about the best practices and strategies to deal with the management of children in Covid-19 Pandemic & Preparedness of Nursing Professionals against 3rd Wave.

Programme: The programme was guided by Nursing Division Dte.GHS. MOHFW, Government of India. The programme was started by a welcome address and a key note which was given by Ms. Bandana Moktan Senior Nursing Educator CRH, SMU, Gangtok .Dr.Bhargavi C.N Lecturer, CON Dr. RML Hospital was the mentor for the programm and Mrs ReshmaTamang Associate Professor, SMCON was the organizing secretary for the training programme.  The Introduction of the training programme was given by Dr.Rathi Balachandran, ADG (Nursing Division) Dte.GHS, MOHFW, Govt of India. The need of the Training for nurses was delivered by Dr. Sandhya Gupta, Chairperson Training Former Principal (actg) & Associate Prof. CON, AIIMS, New Delhi. Prof.Champa Sharma, Principal, SMCON and Mrs. Uden Bhutia, Joint Director, Nursing Directorate, Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim addressed the gathering. Resources person for the Training  were from Sikkim Manipal College of Nursing ,Central Referral Hospital, , Sikkim Professional College of Nursing, Sikkim Government College of Nursing and various Government hospitals. The technical session was conducted from 10:30 am to 5pm. The webinar was attended by 158 participants from various institution/ organization of different parts of the states.


Feedback:
The participants were given post-test and feedback form at the end of the session and also had a couple of questions which were answered by the speaker at the end and majority of the participants expressed that the webinar was very informative and will be helpful in management of children in covid-19 and as well as preparedness of nursing professionals against 3rd wave as a whole.
